What is Manda Pit?

Manda Pit was one of the major mine shafts of the Miike Coal Mine.

It played an important role in Japan’s industrial development. Today, visitors can explore preserved facilities such as the Second Shaft Headframe, the Winding Engine Room, and red-brick buildings that tell the story of the coal mining era.
